How did the LA Lakers fare in last year's NBA playoffs?

Before the LA Lakers secured the seventh seed in the Western Conference in last year's NBA Playoffs, they first had to get past the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Play-In Tournament.

In that matchup, the team was led by LeBron James' 30-point outing (12-of-21 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range) with 10 rebounds and six assists to secure a 108-102 overtime victory.

During their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies, they bested Ja Morant's unit in six games. It was an incredible upset, as the Grizzlies were the second seed in the Western Conference.

Be that as it may, Anthony Davis and LeBron James averaged 20+ points per game each.

Meanwhile, in the semifinals against the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers once again handled a higher-ranked conference team. The series lasted six games, and James had one of his most effective performances, scoring 30 points (10-of-14 shooting, including 2-of-3 from outside the arc), nine rebounds and nine assists.

However, things didn't go in LA's favor when they went up against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets swept them, despite the purple and gold units coming close to stealing one in Game 4.

Despite the 20-time NBA All-Star going for 40 points (15-of-25 shooting), it was still not enough to propel the team to a victory, as Denver would finish the sweep with a 113-111 victory.

With this year's first-round matchup being a rematch of that series, some fans are rooting for an upset victory for the Lakers. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether they have enough to keep things interesting against the 2023 NBA Champions.
