Golden State Warriors' Kevon Looney appeared to have lost weight and leaned out this offseason. NBA fans reacted to the Warriors big man's new look ahead of the 2024-25 season, wherein Looney is entering the final year of his current contract.

In a photo uploaded by @DP0YMOND on X/Twitter, Looney looks leaner and seems to have lost a good amount of weight. He was listed as being 222 pounds in his official profile, although it's unclear how much muscle mass he lost this summer.

Looney was lean and thin back in high school and college. He could handle the ball and even had a jump shot as a power forward before hip injuries derailed his career. He subsequently had to change his game as an undersized big man to fit in with the Warriors.

NBA fans were left in awe of Kevon Looney's new physique and some are expecting big things from the Golden State Warriors big man. He will likely compete with Trayce Jackson-Davis and Draymond Green for the starting center position. He's expected to start in some games and come off the bench in others just like last season.

Here's a look at how fans reacted to Looney's physical transformation on X:

"God damn how much weight did he lose?" one fan asked.
"Watch him bust out the 3-point shooting this year!" one fan claimed.
"Woah woah woah. He ain't playing fair this szn," another fan commented.

Looney is playing in the final year of his current contract. Losing some extra weight could help impress coach Steve Kerr and the rest of the coaching staff:

"This is what you call 'contract year conditioning.' He's got 1 year left on his deal and he needs to step it up if he wants another multi-year deal. I hope he does play well," one fan opined.
"Will he develop some offensive moves? Otherwise, who cares?" another fan asked.
"...Players know what they need to do. Warriors are notorious for giving crazy contracts," another fan said.

Kevon Looney linked to potential trades this offseason

There were multiple reports about Kevon Looney's future with the Warriors this offseason. The franchise were linked to stars such as Paul George and Lauri Markkanen but decided to stay put to rebuild around Steph Curry with role players.

Looney's contract was guaranteed back in June worth around $8 million, which is the final year of the $22.5 million deal he signed in 2022. His minutes were limited in the second part of last season after Draymond Green's return from suspension and the emergence of Trayce Jackson-Davis.

ESPN reported that Golden State could use Looney's $8 million contract in a trade package, although there are no big names available at the moment.
