Since the 2019 NBA Finals, it has been a tough stretch for Kevin Durant. He missed an entire year recovering from injury, and then found himself on one of the most drama-filled teams the league has seen in quite some time.

When Kevin Durant first signed with the Brooklyn Nets, many expected them to be the next superteam. Him and Kyrie Irving were two of the top stars in the game, and they had a batch of young talent around them. The hype grew even more when the Nets pulled off a mega-deal to bring in James Harden.

Despite all the talent, expectations fell way short. First, Harden requested a trade, then Irving did the same a year later. With no other options, the former MVP found himself on the move again. This time, to the Phoenix Suns to join forces with Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

During a recent appearance on "Vlad TV," rapper Boosie Badazz gave his thoughts on the rise and fall of the Brooklyn Nets. Looking at the aftermath, he feels sorry this happened to KD because all he cares about is the game of basketball.

Should we feel sorry for Kevin Durant for how things played out with the Brooklyn Nets?

In some cases, we should feel a little sorry for how things played out for Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. While all this was going on around him, he did his best to keep his sole focus on winning basketball games.

Despite injuries and other off-the-court drama, KD always left it all on the floor for the Brooklyn Nets. During the 2021 postseason, he played almost every minute of their finals games and almost willed them to the conference finals. If his foot had gotten behind the three-point line in Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks, things could be very different right now.

The only counterargument to not feeling sorry for Durant is that he chose Kyrie Irving as his running mate. They were good friends outside the game and wanted to do their thing together. That being said, there is no way Durant could have predicted Irving doing the things he's done over the past two years.

Unfortunately, for KD, his time with the Nets will always be known as a "what if" and for falling short of expectations.
