Magic Johnson has played a big role for the Washington Commanders as an owner during their rise in 2024. In Jayden Daniels' rookie year, Washington made it to the NFC Championship game, where they met the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Daniels and his Commanders squad suffered a heartbreaking loss versus the Eagles from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, going down 55-23 in their first conference championship appearance since 1991.

Magic Johnson reacted to the loss with a post on X following the game, highlighting turnovers and penalties as the main causes of the Commanders' defeat.

"I hate losing so I'm mad that my Commanders lost but congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for advancing to the Super Bowl. My Commanders hurt our chances of winning the game today with 3 fumbles and too many penalties. I want to thank all the Commanders players, coaching staff, fans, and my great Commanders partners on a very good season! The @commanders are back!""

Magic Johnson's Commanders season ended by Eagles

Unfortunately for the NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, he'll be watching the Super Bowl from home as the Eagles advance to take on the winner of the AFC Championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. The Commanders were hindered by four crucial turnovers and nine penalties, which Magic Johnson touched on in his tweet.

Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols and Dyami Brown each lost fumbles to Philadelphia's defense, while Jayden Daniels threw an interception with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Eagles' defense racked up 459 offensive yards, averaging 7.0 yards per play.

Running back Saquon Barkley continued to make his mark during a historic run, taking his 15 carries for 118 yards and three touchdowns.

In the final performance of his rookie season, Jayden Daniels threw for 255 yards, rushed for 48 yards and scored two touchdowns.
