Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has gotten fans used to reading clever captions on his Instagram posts. The OKC Thunder star had a solid start to the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball tournament, dropping 21 points against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece to secure an 86-79 win.

After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander starred in a controversial moment along with Greece guard Thomas Walkup. Walkup ran into him after the final buzzer, which sparked a tense moment between the players.

Gilgeous-Alexander thought the move was intentional and started yelling at the Greek player before Antetokounmpo put his elbow on Shai's neck to keep him away from his teammate.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Canada are on a mission this year. After missing the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, they went to Asia to play in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. They made a strong impression during the tournament, finishing in third place after being eliminated by Serbia in the semifinals.

They were drawn into the so-called 'Group of Death' this Olympics, but Gilgeous-Alexander and company remain one of the favorites to win the gold medal — although the journey won't be easy.

Team USA beat them in their pre-Olympic exhibition game, but should their paths cross in Paris, the Canadians will not back down from the challenge. Led by RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Jamal Murray, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, their team is keen to make noise this year.
