LA Lakers star Luka Doncic broke his silence for the first time since Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison's closed meeting with the media. ESPN's Mallika Andrews sat down with Doncic and asked about his recent thoughts on what Harrison did.
The general manager went viral after holding a closed meeting with select media members and discussing the blockbuster trade. According to him, he reiterated that he had no regret about trading the franchise superstar and believes in the move he made.
However, Doncic wants to move on from it.

“It’s just sad in the way he’s talking right now, I never talked bad about him and I just want to move on,” Doncic said.

“The fans, my ex-teammates, I always keep at heart. It’s time for me to move on."
Andrews followed it up and asked the five-time All-Star if he's talked to Harrison ever since the trade. Doncic confirmed that he has not spoken to the executive since the trade was made. Also, the Lakers's star said that the Mavs' general manager didn't talk to him on the night of the trade.
The ESPN reporter asked the Slovenian star if he intended to spend his entire career in Dallas, and he said yes.
Luka Doncic was "heartbroken" after finding out he was traded to the Lakers
Just like the rest of the league, Luka Doncic was in shock when he found out about the trade. Doncic had no intentions of leaving the franchise that traded for him the night he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2018. He showed no indications that he wanted to leave and join a different franchise.
Andrews asked the five-time All-NBA about his initial thoughts when he was traded. According to him, most of what he felt was sadness as he was betrayed by the organization. Doncic also said his heart was broken when he learned about the trade.
"Sadness, mostly. I was still in shock, crazy shock. I felt like my heart was broken, honestly," Doncic recalled
The host of ESPN shows "NBA Today" and "NBA Countdown" asked if Doncic cared to find out about the reasons why he was traded. However, the 2019 Rookie of the Year didn't care for it and said that is focused on his career, reiterating his intention to move on from the deal.
"It’s painful, depending on how you take it. Mostly, it came from Dallas, and I didn’t want to talk back. I don’t really read that much stuff, I just focus on my journey."
Doncic is getting himself accommodated with the Lakers, preparing to make his first playoff appearance with the team. He played in 28 games for L.A. and averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists.
