Shaquille O'Neal and Dirk Nowitzki are two of the legends of the game who had a great rivalry back in their playing days. Since their retirement, that rivalry has turned into a great friendship, and the two icons are often seen laughing and having fun when together.

In a recent episode of 'Big Pod with Shaq' Shaquille O'Neal revealed his memory of seeing Dirk Nowitzki's wife for the first time. Dirk had married Jessica Olsson, who is black, back in 2012. The co-host of Shaq on the podcast asked the Hall of Famer about his reaction when he got to know that Dirk's wife was black and Shaq had an amusing response ready.

"I found out accidentally. I don't know if Dirk knows this but we all leave the same way so one day there was this gorgeous person standing there and I was like oh."
"They was like that's Dirk's wife and I was like, 'Oh, okay my bad.' But after that I knew that he (Dirk Nowitzki) was down, I know that he liked the chocolate. I knew that he likes the chocolate bars!"

As Shaq playfully teased Nowitzki while narrating the incident, the former Mavericks star was full of embarrassment laughing and hiding his face from the camera. The host also asked Nowitzki about his experience after marrying a black woman and if the people treated him differently after knowing this information about him.

Nowitzki revealed that he was treated fairly well in the black community and whenever there was a home game, he was frequently invited to the cookouts and gatherings.

Shaquille O'Neal revealed that he wanted to play with Dirk Nowitzki on the Dallas Mavericks

Many NBA fans have only dreamed of the duo of Shaquille O'Neal and Dirk Nowitzki playing alongside the same team and in the recent episode of the Big podcast with Shaq the former Lakers star revealed that the dream was much closer to reality than one could think. Shaquille O'Neal revealed that he really wanted to play alongside Dirk Nowitzki.

"Trust me, I tried to get to Dallas many times. Me and Mark was working behind the scenes. Right after I left LA, Mark was the first person I called," Shaq said.

After the 2004 loss at the NBA finals, Shaq was unhappy with his career. He had a spoiled relationship with the Lakers' face Kobe Bryant and wanted out of the franchise at any cost. However, as he was still under a contract, the only way out was a trade.

Shaq revealed that he wanted to go to the Dallas Mavericks and worked with Mark Cuban to get a deal but that didn't happen and eventually, he was traded to the Miami Heat on July 14, 2004.
