Five months after welcoming their fourth child, Steph Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry opened up about her personal struggle with postpartum depression in a candid interview on Monday. The fact that the multi-talented chef, actress, and television host had difficulty losing her sense of taste for nine months during the pandemic speaks volumes about the challenges for mothers.
In an interview with New York-based magazine The Cut, Ayesha Curry revealed that she truly understood what postpartum depression was after the birth of her third child.
“At first I was going really, really hard and had too much on my plate,” Ayesha Curry told the outlet of 'that' period in her life. “Then I had to tone it down. After I had my third child, I had pretty severe postpartum depression, and that shifted things a lot too. I was very hard on myself. Then, boom, the pandemic hit, and I lost my taste buds for nine months. That was super-depressing, still hasn’t come back full,” she admitted.
She explained how returning to work and focusing on her Caribbean food background skincare line, Sweet July Skin, has helped her healing process.

“We’re a very Caribbean food-focused skin-care line," Ayesha continued. "It’s something I’m actively navigating on a daily basis, to just feel normal again. It’s also given me the space and allowed me to unlock different interests, devote more time to Sweet July Skin. Our formulas are founded on “what goes in your body can go on your body,” so I’ve been able to do a deep dive from that perspective and refocused my efforts there,” she added.
Now five months postpartum, Ayesha Curry said she’s feeling rejuvenated. The time she spent recovering and bonding with the newborn baby Caius reinvigorated her energy. She’s returned to work and is excited about her new projects.
Ayesha Curry spills beans on her typical day routine
Despite donning many roles, Ayesha Curry’s days can get incredibly hectic, but she efficiently manages her busy schedule. While conversing with The Cut, the 35-year-old spilled some beans regarding her way of life.
Ayesha Curry revealed that her 5-month-old son is her natural alarm clock, the first to wake up in the house. She then starts her day by getting her kids ready for school. She enjoys a quiet moment with a latte and meditation before diving into her work. Around 8:30, she finally checks her phone, catches up on emails, and responds to overnight texts.
And her typical workday at Sweet July is anything but predictable. She might be in production meetings, pitching new shows, working in the lab, overseeing product filling, or attending events like cafe openings.
She recently opened her second cafe flagship store and café in Santa Monica Beach.
