"I'm going to remember this": Carmelo Anthony doesn't hold back against son's bold LeBron and Bronny James prediction

Carmelo Anthony doesn’t always agree with the basketball opinions of his son Kiyan Anthony. Five months ago, the then 16-year-old high schooler said in an interview that he would beat his 16-year-old father in a hypothetical one-on-one game. The 10x NBA All-Star’s reaction was priceless when he saw the video.

“Melo” couldn’t believe his son thought he would beat him when they were of the same age. But, the New York Knicks legend gave the youngster props for having the self-belief needed to succeed.

A few days ago, Kiyan Anthony was asked who would win in a mouthwatering two-on-two matchup between two NBA royalty families. The junior star at Long Island Lutheran High School thought he and his father would lose a close game to LeBron and Bronny James. La La Anthony’s son even added that the score could be 11-8 or probably 11-7 in favor of the Jameses.

Carmelo Anthony saw the viral clip on X, formerly Twitter, and reacted:

“I’m going to remember this @kiyananthony”

“Melo” included a laughing emoji in his post but one could easily assume he wasn’t giving LeBron and Bronny James a pass. The Anthonys could lose but the former 19-year NBA veteran would not have admitted it so readily on social media.

For the second time in five months, Carmelo Anthony publicly disagreed with his son. It likely wouldn’t be the last time either, considering how strongly opinionated both of them are.

Kiyan Anthony claims his father Carmelo Anthony goes hard at him in workouts

Kiyan Anthony is looking to follow in the footsteps of his father to the NBA. He is also trying to emulate Bronny James, a former opponent, who is now in the pros. The younger Anthony had this to say in an interview with Yahoo Sports about how his father Carmelo Anthony has been preparing him.

“He doesn’t go easy on me. If I were to mess up, he’d get on me. He just wants me to be great and I don’t take it personal or anything like that. When we start to play one-on-one, he’ll guard me real aggressive just so I can feel what the next-level strength is like.”

Kiyan Anthony has offers from Syracuse University, the school Carmelo Anthony led to an NCAA championship, and Seton Hall. The younger Anthony also added that he is already talking to Penn State, Syracuse, St. John’s and other programs for his collegiate basketball career.

The NBA legend, though, still trains his son when the schedule allows it. Knowing they spend so much time working out together, “Melo” couldn't believe his son would readily give in to LeBron and Bronny James winning against them in a hypothetical two-on-two contest.
