In Monday's Philadelphia 76ers-San Antonio Spurs game, Victor Wembanyama drew a charge call on Joel Embiid as the former MVP drove to the hoop. The play led to a heated confrontation, during which Embiid got in the face of referee Jenna Schroder and yelled at her. Eventually, Embiid was ejected from the game, as coaches and staff members held him back from the confrontation.
During halftime, the NBA TV desk crew discussed the situation, with Stephanie Ready aiming Embiid for how he spoke to Schroder. On the halftime broadcast, while a replay of the encounter played on the screen, Ready said:
"It is a charge every which way too. ... He immediately is up disputing it. She's trying to discuss it calmly, and he goes off. He approaches and steps to her as if he wants to have a physical confrontation, which I have a problem with. He has to be restrained, and he's now out of the game. I have a lot to say as a woman."

Ready's co-hosts agreed with her that the right call was made, and even though Embiid protested the call, the replay shows a pretty clear charge call. As Udonis Haslem said on the broadcast, Embiid may not have been happy with the call, but at the end of the day, he should have treated the official with respect.
Nick Nurse reacts to Joel Embiid's ejection in 76ers narrow win over San Antonio
While Nick Nurse's Philadelphia 76ers won on Monday, the game wasn't without controversy. Embiid was ejected before the half, and there was also an incident with Andre Drummond and Victor Wembanyama.
Moments after being hit with a technical foul for shoving Wembanyama, Andre Drummond was ejected from the game when Jenna Schroder called another technical the next possession.
After further review, Schroder and the officials rescinded the technical on Drummond, bringing him back into the game. In addition, Schroder also apologized to Nick Nurse on the sidelines, candidly saying she "f****d up" in making the original call.
Despite that, the controversy surrounding Embiid's ejection was a major talking point. After the game, Nick Nurse spoke with media members about the game, and the controversial ejection of Embiid.
“I didn’t really get an explanation for it," He said. "Couldn’t really get to the referee that called it. So I was asking the other guys, and they were saying, ‘ask her.’ … I never did find out, just assumed it was arguing.”
Following the game, Crew Chief Curtis Blair shed further light on Embiid's ejection, saying that the former MVP picked up unsportsmanlike technical fouls for the verbal spat.
