Lil Wayne continued to point out that Bronny James was playing how he expected and shows strong composure on the floor for such a young player with all eyes on him.
"What ive seen from him so far is what ive expected to see," Wayne added. "Playing as hard as he can, working hard...not overtrying."
The 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft is off to a modest start to his NBA career, scoring a total of seven points through two summer league games while shooting poorly from the field. He's failed to sink any of his three-pointers, but has contributed on the defensive end and provided the Lakers with energy across the floor. He tallied three blocks and two steals in Wednesday's loss to the Miami Heat.
Wayne isn't moved by the early showings.
"I think he can become real good," he said. "Because of who his father is, but because he shows you how hard he works."
Undisputed host Skip Bayless pushed Lil Wayne on just how good he thinks James can be, with Wayne expressing confidence at every turn. When asked if he could start on an NBA team, Wayne expressed that it's more important for him to seek more growth as a player before setting that goal. But when asked if he sees James as an all-star one day, he had one word to share in support: "Definitely."
Bronny James can be 'just like any other teammate' to father LeBron
Bronny and LeBron will make history as the first father-son duo to share an NBA floor next season, but that's not going to stop LeBron from treating his son like any other player for the Lakers.
He even said he expects Bronny to chime in when his father is slipping on the court.
"I’m going to hold him accountable, and he should hold me accountable when I do things not right," he said. "I can separate dad from teammate."
Bronny is expected to play his next summer league game Friday against the Houston Rockets.
