Jordan Poole had an impressive season opener for the Washington Wizards in their loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. Poole also went viral for twerking mid-game despite being down big in the third quarter. NBA fans hilariously reacted to the move on social media.

With the Celtics up 73-58 in the third quarter, Poole blocked Derrick White's layup attempt and the ball went out of bounds. The one-time NBA champion was so pumped up by the play that he started twerking despite being down to the defending champs.

The referees reviewed the call and the ball was given to the Wizards. It was a chance to get some momentum back on their side, but Poole missed a 3-point shot. The Celtics ended up blowing the game wide open to beat Washington 122-102 to improve to 2-0 for the season.

Overtime posted a video of Poole twerking on Instagram, noting he was the "First NBA player to twerk mid game":

NBA fans couldn't believe what they saw and hilariously reacted to Jordan Poole twerking randomly after a play. Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain, who is famous for his TikTok dances, even caught a stray on the Instagram comments section.

"I thought it'd be Jared McCain," a fan replied to the fact that Poole was the first player to twerk.
"This is out-of-pocket. He must be stopped," one fan wrote.
"The Wizards are basically the NBA version of the Harlem Globetrotters but they just don’t win every game," another fan remarked.

More fans roasted Poole in the comments, including one fan who brought up the infamous incident when Poole got punched by teammate Draymond Green while with the Warriors.

"That boy tryna get a deal with Bad Boys records ain't he," a fan joked.
"I get why draymond punched him now…. Smh," one fan claimed.
"This why they ain’t winning 15+ games," another fan commented.

Jordan Poole finished the game with a team-high 26 points plus four assists and four steals. Poole did his part for the Washington Wizards, but they are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season.

The Wizards finished last season with a record of 15-67, which is the worst in franchise history. Poole was acquired from the Golden State Warriors, but he had a terrible season shooting the ball at 41.3% and was ineffective as the team's primary option.

Speaking to reporters during the Washington Wizards' media day earlier this month, Jordan Poole opened up about his second with the team. Poole understood how hard it was for him last season, but there's a clear objective from the franchise and coaching staff this campaign.

"Coming into Year 2, we have a little bit more clarity in what we want to do, a little bit more direction in what we want to do," Poole said, according to The Athletic. "So that not only helps me, but it helps other guys know what they can focus on, where they can put their energy to. And that's all you really need."
