Patrick Beverley has no regrets about actions that led to a suspension: “If I could play it back again, I would do the exact same thing”

During the LA Lakers' recent matchup against the Phoenix Suns, Patrick Beverley made headlines for all the wrong reasons. During his career, the veteran point guard has built a reputation for being an enforcer. This was on full display as he went to extreme measures to look out for one of his teammates.

During the second half against the Suns, Deandre Ayton was seen standing over a fallen Austin Reaves. Patrick Beverley did not like this and quickly rushed over. He proceeded to shove Ayton from behind. Following the altercation, the Lakers guard was issued a three-game suspension.

Once the dust settled, Beverley opened up about his point of view on "The Pat Bev Show." He said he wouldn't change a thing if given a do-over.

"There's a reason guys want me on their team... me, I'm all about team. Very unfortunate situation. If I could play it back again, I would do the exact same thing."

Patrick Beverley might not be one of the most well-liked players in the league, but there is no denying that he fully understands his role. The LA Lakers guard has built a long and successful career by being a hard-nosed defender and emotional leader on every team he's been on.

As he said, there is a reason why guys want him on their team. The Lakers went and traded for him this summer because they needed a personality like him in the locker room. His passion and competitiveness are what LA need alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis' skillsets as they look to get back in the playoffs.

While Patrick Beverley might have taken things a bit too far with his shove on Ayton, at the end of the day, he was simply looking out for one of his teammates.

Beverley said he wouldn't change a thing about this incident, and rightfully so. No player should ever regret looking out for one of their teammates.
