Years after he used to dazzle NBA crowds with his electric shotmaking, Carmelo Anthony found an outlet through wine-making in his retirement stage. Interestingly, the former Knicks forward shared on X his latest endeavor in an appearance at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

Carmelo Anthony's uploaded pictures featured a pose with the Food & Wine Classic logo in the background, including a shot of "Melo" pouring wine to attendees at a booth.

"Always a pleasure, Aspen," Anthony posted.

Carmelo Anthony talked about being part of the wine community alongside Pelicans guard CJ McCollum

During the Food & Wine Classic in 2022, Carmelo Anthony and Pelicans star CJ McCollum shared their excitement for being included in the wine community.

"Coming to Food & Wine gives us an opportunity to bring all of us together to make [the wine community] inclusive," Anthony said (h/t New York Post). "We want you guys to help us learn too. We want to learn from the people who came before us. We want to learn and we want to become more educated on how this process works. ..."

After a stacked basketball resume, Anthony acknowledged that the wine community isn't something he's completely accustomed to. However, this mindset is one that he wants to propel him to explore this endeavor further.

In June 2022, Anthony's "VII(N) The Seventh Estate" was finally launched as he envisioned it to be the start of a journey in his life. The Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was also a part of the event that year.

McCollum released his wine label "McCollum Heritage 91" with his wife Elise in 2020. Meanwhile, Wade's "Wade Cellars" was a successful wine collaboration with Napa Valley vintner Jayson Pahlmeyer.

Carmelo Anthony shared what got him into the wine industry

During a podcast interview on May 31, 2023, with the "Wine Enthusiast Podcast," Carmelo Anthony shared the foundation of his interest in the wine industry.

"I've been into wine more than 10 years, more than a decade," Anthony said. "Just that whole experience, that whole journey of just drinking wine and being interested in just the size of wine and just how it was made and you know, at that point of time when I got into wine, it wasn't a big wine culture in sports in the NBA and in just our community."

With how intricate the game of basketball is played in the NBA, Anthony found the intricacies involved in the creation of wine to be a process he wanted to get into. From that point on, it was something that he wanted to dedicate some of his time to until finally reaching the footing he is now.
