Russell Westbrook once talked about the time he passed on an opportunity to get a picture with Michael Jordan

Before he signed under the iconic Jordan Brand in 2013, Russell Westbrook shared the time he passed on an opportunity to get a picture and a signature with Michael Jordan himself, as per Jimmy Fallon's "The Tonight Show in 2020.

“So when my team was up, my parents gave me a basketball to get signed, I don’t know what I was thinking. When it was time I was in the middle of a game. ... My coach was like, ‘Come on, come on, come on. You’re gonna miss the opportunity to get a picture with Michael Jordan and an autograph with Michael Jordan.’ Myself said, ‘Ahh, don’t worry, I’m okay, I don’t need it right now.’

Westbrook looked fondly at that memory as he remembered how immersed he was in playing pick-up basketball with the other kids at a young age. However, the Clippers guard did admit that he felt like he missed out on something special as he was too busy enjoying the moment of playing basketball.

Westbrook's 10-year deal with the Jordan brand will last until the 2025-26 NBA season. The NBA star's original contract was a five-year deal that lasted until 2017 before it was eventually extended.
