The Lakers are in a difficult situation and need to churn out victories to have any chance of making it to the postseason. Their troubles have been mostly due to injury troubles for their two major stars. Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been out for large parts of the season already, which has contributed to the Lakers’ current position.

Anthony Davis will sit out tonight against the OKC Thunder. He has started the past 11 games for the LA Lakers and has been their best player. Davis has been the chief orchestrator in Lakers’ resurgent recent run of 3-1.

The big man scored 28 points and had 19 rebounds against the Memphis Grizzlies and can be expected to start. The player is fit and has not been listed in the injury report, and his team needs him if they are to get to the postseason.

Anthony Davis looks close to returning to his best

Davis last missed a game at the end of January. The player has suffered constant criticism this season but is still producing impressive numbers. He has been averaging 25.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists this season. The LA Lakers also need his defensive presence and have a much better record when Anthony Davis is on the court.

However, they might still be without LeBron James. The Lakers’ other big star has been struggling with a foot injury and has not been performing well recently. According to reports, he is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks worth of action. James did not play against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Apart from LeBron, new acquisition D’Angelo Russell has also been listed as questionable for the match. Still, a potential LeBron absence might mean that Russell ends up playing a big role against a young OKC Thunder team. The LA Lakers are currently 12th in the Western Conference with a 29-33 record.
