Is Anthony Davis playing tonight against the Spurs? Latest on Lakers superstar's availability (Nov. 27)

Anthony Davis is expected to suit up for the LA Lakers when they continue their West trip taking on the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. LA are on the second day of their back-to-back and are coming off a blowout 127-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Davis, who was listed as probable ahead of the matchup played 34 minutes ending his evening with a team-high 25 points and 15 rebounds.

The latest injury update does not see Davis listed on IR, making him available for the must-win game against the Spurs. The Lakers' center's usage rate will be a concern though as the side saw a reserve big Jaxson Hayes hit the floor hard in the final quarter and was later taken to the locker room.

Christian Koloko will see minutes on his behalf, but Anthony Davis has been the catalyst of the LA Lakers' defense and much depends on him to stop the Spurs juggernaut coming off four wins on the bounce.

Anthony Davis laments Lakers' 3rd quarter woes in loss to Suns

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the loss, their third in a row, Anthony Davis had a detailed explanation behind their recent failures.

"Once again we just didn’t score in the third quarter. And our defensive communication was lax. And they were able to get some open shots and open dunks and shots at the rim. And then, now we got guys in rotation and they’re sprinting out to their shooters for threes.
"We’re at the bottom of the pack. I’m not saying, ‘Oh man, top five, top three.’ We should be able to get to the middle of the pack and that can change a lot for us. So we’ll just take it one game at a time and try to have some pride in ourselves defensively.”

He further added about their competitive spirit.

"I think our competitive spirit is always there every night. I think no one comes out and says, ‘We don’t want to compete.’ But I think it can look that way or seem that way when we’re just not on the same page because we’re not talking. So we just got to get better at that part of it."

Davis has been on a tear for the Lakers this season averaging 29.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 16 games so far. Now, he will be looked at to help the side get back to winning ways on Wednesday.
