Anthony Edwards is coming off one of his best seasons in the league with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had an impressive first Olympic stint representing USA Basketball. Ahead of a new regular season, Edwards was sidelined for the team's first preseason game against the LA Lakers. They are scheduled to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday at the Wells Fargo Arena.
According to ESPN, the Timberwolves star is listed as day-to-day. SB Nation's Derek Hanson also reported that Edwards and Julius Randle are listed as game-time decisions. The team's medical staff are cautious as Edwards is coming from a busy summer playing international basketball. The game will tip off at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific time).
Edwards posted 25.9 points (46.1% shooting, including 35.7% from 3-point range), 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game last season.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward talked about the growth of Anthony Edwards
The Timberwolves were one of the best teams in the league last season. They established a strong defensive identity while being led by a promising young star in Anthony Edwards.
With much anticipation for the squad to pick up where they left off from the 2023-24 season, Timberwolves forward Naz Reid spoke highly about Edwards's growth and what's expected of him as the face of the franchise.
"This is nothing for him," Finch said. "He's going to embrace it. I think it's something he's already been trying to do and transitioning into that role and guy who is a leader. He's only in his fifth year. So he has a lot more to grow. But he definitely knows what it feels like to be in that transition into being a leader."
Edwards is a two-time NBA All-Star and has made tremendous strides in his game and leadership ability each season. He continues to mold into the star that the team can rally behind for years to come.
Last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves finished as the third seed in the Western Conference standings with a 56-26 record. They rank 17th offensively and first defensively in the league.
