Bronny James is expected to suit up for the LA Lakers' third straight preseason game on Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks. He is not on the team's injury report ahead of this contest. The Lakers have already started Bronny's development with these games against quality competition.

He probably won't get the same kind of minutes once the regular season starts, as LA plans to give the 20-year-old more G League minutes with the South Bay Lakers.

Bronny James' preseason has been a struggle

Bronny James has underperformed in his first two preseason games. His offense, in particular, has been an issue. After barely escaping a scoreless outing in his debut, the Lakers rookie couldn't get on the scoreboard again. Bronny finished with two points, grabbed a rebound and dished one assist in LA's 124-107 loss to the Timberwolves on Oct. 4. He shot 1 of 6 but had three blocks.

In his first game with his father, LeBron James, against the Suns on Sunday, he went scoreless, missing his only shot attempt of the night. Bronny also had four turnovers in 13 minutes of action. The nerves may have gotten to him after he got his first minutes of the game next to LeBron in the second quarter.

Nevertheless, the preseason could prove to be a great learning experience for the rookie. It's the only stretch where he could get the most minutes to play against NBA teams before the G League season starts.

Bronny James will hope he can overcome his slow preseason start, similar to Summer League, which he ended on a high. He has shown glimpses of his potential in spurts, so more adjustments and reps could greatly benefit him.
