D'Angelo Russell is a doubtful starter when the Brooklyn Nets take on the Indiana Pacers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday. The latest Nets acquisition has played three games for the Nets. He finds himself in the team's updated injury report with a shin contusion that lists him as questionable.
He will be a notable absentee if he misses the contest as the rebuilding Nets look to prop up wins. They come off a blowout 123-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Russell exited the game with just five points after suffering a right shin contusion. He recorded four assists, two steals, and one rebound in 14 minutes of action.
With Cam Johnson already ruled out with an ankle sprain, Russell's absence makes it that much tougher against a stern Pacers side coming off two wins on the bounce.

"It felt fun": D'Angelo Russell makes feelings clear in Nets debut after being traded by the Lakers
For the second time in his career, D'Angelo Russell was traded by the LA Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets, and he made a splash in his first game back. The guard suited up for the team's skirmish against the Toronto Raptors and dropped 22 points and eight assists in just 26:01 minutes off the bench in the 130-113 loss.
Speaking on his performance, he credited the coaching staff for making quick adjustments.
"The coaches [were the reason], honestly. They gave me the best preparation I could in a short time, short notice, to where I felt like I could go out there, and I felt comfortable organizing the guys, getting guys and myself where we needed to be to capitalize on the unit that was out there. It felt fun. I think [head coach Jordi Fernandez] has done a good job of knowing where to put me to kind of help him."
Russell was part of the Brooklyn Nets from 2017-19, where he also made his lone All-Star selection. He also reunited with Montverde Academy teammate Ben Simmons. He was moved by LA along with Maxwell Lewis, and second-round picks in 2029, 2030, and 2031 to Brooklyn for forward Dorian Finney-Smith and reserve guard Shake Milton.
Leading up to his trade, D'Angelo Russell averaged 12.4 points and 26.3 minutes a game. His three-point shooting dipped from 41.5% last season to 33.3% this edition. It remains to be seen if he manages to recapture his form in his second stint with the Nets.
