Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez addressed Russell's arrival but stopped short of confirming whether the veteran guard would be available for the game against the Raptors.

"Very excited to coach (Russell and Lewis)," Fernandez said, as quoted by the New York Post. "I’ve heard great things and trying to get them up to speed with some film … simplifying the playbook and the rules and everything so they can learn before we see them.

"So, we’ll see if they play or not, but at least they start learning our system and we’ll just go from there."

D'Angelo Russell is preparing for his second stint with the Brooklyn Nets, where he previously enjoyed a highly successful tenure, earning his first and only All-Star selection in 2019.

Prior to the trade, Russell appeared in 29 games for the Lakers this season, starting in 11 of them. The star guard is averaging 12.4 points per game on 41.5% shooting, including 33.3% from beyond the arc, along with 2.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
