Damian Lillard will not suit up for the Milwaukee Bucks in their home game against the Washington Wizards on Saturday. The superstar point guard is currently dealing with a right calf strain, an injury that kept him out of the team’s 124-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
With the Bucks playing on the second night of a back-to-back, it was highly improbable that the team's management would clear Lillard to play. Given that the Wizards currently hold the worst record in the league, the Bucks are likely confident in their ability to secure a win at home without their star guard.
Lillard initially experienced discomfort during the NBA Cup semifinal against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 14 but played through the pain in the Bucks' 97-81 victory over the OKC Thunder in the NBA Cup Final on Tuesday. The eight-time All-Star logged 35 minutes in the championship game, contributing 23 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers addressed Lillard’s injury ahead of the matchup against the Cavaliers, explaining that the medical staff recommended rest for the point guard to prevent further aggravation of his calf strain. Rivers also noted that he is uncertain when Lillard will be ready to return to the lineup.
"I just know after the (NBA Cup Final) game, the next day basically, they told me that we needed him to sit for a minute, so we'll see," Rivers said.
"I have no idea (on Lillard's return). My guess, I'm guessing like you guys, it's a strain. I don't think it's a severe one, but I think we're going to be cautious."
Milwaukee’s superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo addressed Damian Lillard’s recent injury setback, emphasizing the importance of his point guard taking the necessary time to fully recover.
