Boston Celtics’ All-Star Jaylen Brown is not expected to play against the Milwaukee Bucks later tonight.

The 26-year old suffered a facial fracture in the victory over the Philadelphia 76ers and had to come off after around 18 minutes. Brown had four points, three assists and two rebounds as a team effort got the Celtics the win. As many as six Boston players finished in double digits, which was enough to neutralize a 28-point display from Joel Embiid.

Jaylen Brown suffered the injury in a collision with teammate Jayson Tatum as both were running after a loose ball. Tatum ended up elbowing Brown in the face and he was initially ruled out due to a facial contusion. This was later revealed to be a fracture.

Brown will not play against the Milwaukee Bucks and claimed after the match against the Memphis Grizzlies that he hoped to play in the All-Star game. The Boston Celtics are firmly at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 41-16 record and will hope to have their best players available for the postseason.

"It's going to take more than a Jayson Tatum elbow to take me out" - Jaylen Brown wants to return for All-Star game

Jaylen Brown said in an interview that his injury was healing up nicely and that he was taking things day-to-day:

"I'm taking it day to day right now. I'm just letting the swelling go down, letting the pain subside, and then I'll kind of go from there. So, I can't make any determinations long-term because I'm just taking it day to day."

After the recent win against the Charlotte Hornets, Tatum claimed that he felt responsible for the injury and planned to buy Brown a “safe car.” Brown responded by saying that it would take more than a Jayson Tatum elbow to keep him out for long:

"It's been tough to sleep the first couple of days, but I'm all right. It's going to take more than a Jayson Tatum elbow to take me out."

The Milwaukee Bucks game will be the third straight match that Brown sits out of, but he seems to be healing rather quickly. He is hoping to be a part of the All-Star game, albeit with a facemask:

"There's a lot of excitement around wearing a mask, I guess, so just been going through the process, picking and choosing which one's the best and going from there.”

We will see if Jaylen Brown can recover in time for the All-Star game, it would be a shame if he is unable to play, although the Celtics might prefer him to miss it.
