Josh Giddey and Australia will take on Team USA on Monday in an exhibition game as part of their preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Giddey is coming off a down season for the OKC Thunder and was recently traded to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Alex Caruso.

According to ESPN, Giddey is listed as active and will play today against Team USA in Abu Dhabi. He played 80 games for the Thunder last season, averaging 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He was limited to just 25.1 minutes per game, despite being a regular starter.

Giddey's minutes went down even more in the playoffs, starting eight of their 10 postseason matchups. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in just 18.1 minutes per game. He will look to have a better summer that could possibly carry over to his first season in Chicago.

Josh Giddey making his Olympic debut for Australia

Australia took home the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but Josh Giddey was not part of the team back then. Giddey will be making his Olympic debut for the Boomers in Paris. He sought the help of the Adelaide 36ers' general manager of high performance, Nik Popovic, to help him prepare.

"When he arrived (in Chicago) he was texting me and I sent him a workout plan, and he was working out at midnight. So that shows you where he wants to et and where he needs to be. We made some adjustments on his way back to Boomers camp. Nearly 40 hours on a plane across four days, that's challenging for anyone," Popovic said.

Before he got drafted sixth overall by the OKC Thunder in 2021, Josh Giddey spent one season for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL.

Australia vs. Team USA game details

Team USA is set to face Australia on Monday, July 15, and will start at noon EST. It will be held at Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The game is part of the USA Basketball Showcase, which will help the Americans prepare for the upcoming Olympics.

Kevin Durant is not expected to play as he recovers from a calf injury that kept him out of Team USA's win over Canada. Derrick White, who replaced Kawhi Leonard on the roster, recently arrived in Abu Dhabi, so he'll likely be a game-time decision.

On the other hand, Australia has a solid roster led by veterans Patty Mills and Joe Ingles, plus some solid role players such as Jock Landale, Dante Exum, Josh Green and Duop Reath. The Boomers are also integrating youth, with players such as Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels making their Olympic debuts.
