Kevin Durant will play in the highly anticipated NBA Cup matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the LA Lakers on Tuesday. Durant, who missed the last seven games due to a left calf injury, was sorely missed by the Suns, who managed just one win in his absence, losing six of their seven outings.
When Durant last suited up, the Suns were atop the Western Conference standings with an impressive 8-1 record, tied with the OKC Thunder. However, in his absence, Mike Budenholzer's squad has dropped to seventh place, holding a 9-7 record.
Phoenix's coach provided an update on Durant's condition ahead of the marquee showdown, emphasizing that the former MVP looked sharp and ready during scrimmages.
"They both (Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal) looked great," the Suns coach said. "They did everything in practice today, quite a bit of scrimmaging. They are great players, so it's great to have them playing. They brought an energy and the pop, which was really good."
