The NBA announced on Friday that two games scheduled for Saturday have been postponed due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. In an official statement, the league confirmed the postponement of the LA Lakers versus San Antonio Spurs game at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and the LA Clippers versus Charlotte Hornets game in Inglewood.

The NBA said in a statement that both games will be rescheduled for a later date, though no official dates have been announced at this time.

"The National Basketball Association games scheduled for tomorrow between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena and between the Charlotte Hornets and LA Clippers at Intuit Dome have been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The dates for the rescheduled games will be announced at a later time.," the release read.
"The NBA and the Clippers and Lakers organizations have been in communication with local officials in Los Angeles and Inglewood about the ongoing situation in the Los Angeles arca and the game postponements ensure no resources will be diverted from the wildfire response efforts," it added.

This marks the second consecutive Lakers game to be postponed due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Previously, LeBron James and the Lakers had their game against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday postponed for the same reason.

In its announcement, the NBA also revealed that the league and the National Basketball Players Association are donating $1 million to provide immediate relief. The funds will support organizations such as the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen and others assisting those impacted by the disaster.

JJ Redick wanted the game to take place

Lakers coach JJ Redick gave a heartfelt address to reporters following Friday’s practice, expressing deep sorrow over the devastation caused by the wildfires. The former NBA sharpshooter, visibly emotional, teared up as he reflected on the loss of his home in the disaster.

Despite the personal tragedy, Redick emphasized his hope for the Lakers' game against the San Antonio Spurs to proceed as scheduled.

"I wanna play tomorrow, I wanna coach tomorrow," Redick said. I want these guys to play tomorrow and if we can play, we'll play. I do believe that for everybody that has been impacted by this, there is a grieving process, there's a healing process.
"I can only speak for myself. Part of my healing and grieving process is being here."

Meanwhile, the Lakers are scheduled to play their next six games in Los Angeles.
