The NBA is set to miss LeBron James for an indefinite period. “King James” injured his right foot against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, but still finished the game. When he fell to the floor after going for a drive, he told teammates that he “heard something pop.”
James wouldn’t let the unfortunate incident stop him from helping the LA Lakers rally to a stunning 27-point comeback to beat the Mavericks. Incredibly enough, he still scored 11 fourth-quarter points despite playing through with the said injury.
After the game, the four-time MVP was seen getting out of the American Airlines Center with a very noticeable limp. Hours later, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted:
"Sources: There's fear Lakers star LeBron James is likely to miss an extended period of time with his right foot injury. James suffered the injury in Sunday's win over Dallas, played through it, and belief is he will be sidelined for an indefinite amount."

The LA Lakers are reportedly operating on the assumption that they will not have the 19x All-Star on their roster for the foreseeable future.
What is LeBron James’ status tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies?
The LA Lakers have officially ruled out LeBron James for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum. He is no longer with the Lakers as the team finishes their three-game road trip next Thursday in Oklahoma.
“King James” has already missed 14 games this season for the Lakers due to an adductor strain, left foot/ankle soreness and illness. This will be the first time he will be sidelined due to a right foot injury.
The 38-year-old veteran has shown vulnerability over the last five seasons, all with the LA Lakers. In his first 15 years, he missed a total of 71 games. He has already been unavailable in 98 games since he brought his talents to Hollywood.
LeBron James’ latest injury has fans extremely agitated and frustrated. The 19x All-Star asserted during the All-Star weekend that the last 23 games will be the most important regular-season games of his career. He has played just two of the 23 games and it remains to be seen if he’ll play again this season.
When will LeBron James return?
“King James” mood was perfectly captured by a simple Instagram story with the caption:
“F*n sucks!!!!”
The reports coming out mentioned “multiple weeks” as the timeline for his return. Charania’s “indefinite” time frame leaves the door open and James may not suit up again for the LA Lakers.
LA is reportedly looking for a second opinion regarding the status of James’ injury. It doesn’t sound like it’s good news for Laker Nation. The team also went scampering for other “options” when Anthony Davis injured his right foot.
AD ended up missing 5 ½ weeks. The Lakers will be lucky if LeBron James is not be sidelined for that long, considering how desperate they are to at least punch a play-in ticket.
