Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is doubtful to play for the OKC Thunder in their matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. The MVP frontrunner is listed as "questionable" on the team’s injury report due to a right wrist injury. The Canadian star also missed the Thunder’s previous game against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
Gilgeous-Alexander was a late scratch for that game despite participating in the pregame shootaround as he continued to experience discomfort in his wrist. His absence, the first of the season, contributed to OKC’s 106-98 loss to the Mavericks.
The 6-foot-6 guard initially sustained the injury during the Thunder’s dominant 134-114 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. The former Kentucky standout fell awkwardly on his wrist while making a play and was seen clutching his right hand in pain. He consulted with the team’s medical staff before ultimately choosing to stay in the game.

OKC star Jalen Williams reflected on the experience of playing without their superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander following the team’s loss to the Mavericks.
"Just being ready to play... not trying to do too much but still play within the team," Williams said. "Just took it as a learning opportunity. Not everybody in the NBA gets doubled and blitzed. Definitely is a good thing."
Meanwhile, Mark Daigneault's Thunder remain atop the Western Conference standings, boasting an impressive record of 34 wins and just seven losses through their first 41 games this season.
