Is Steph Curry playing tonight against the LA Clippers? | February 14, 2023 | 2022-23 NBA Season

Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry last played during the Warriors' 119-113 win over Dallas on Feb. 4.

During the game, Curry suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a left leg contusion. It was initially reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania that Curry would miss multiple weeks due to his leg injury.

The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson later followed that up with a report on Feb. 9 that Curry will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break. As a result, Curry will miss Tuesday (February 14) night's road game against the LA Clippers, which will mark the Warriors' final game before the break.

The Warriors (29-28, ninth in the West) are in playoff reckoning in a crowded Western Conference. They take on a Clippers team (31-28, sixth in the West) that's just one game ahead of them in the standings. So Tuesday’s game could prove to be crucial for both teams as we enter the stretch run of the NBA season.

The Warriors are 1-0 against the Clippers this season, winning 124-107 at home on Nov. 23. However, Clippers stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George missed that game, while Curry suited up. So things will likely be a lot tougher for the Warriors this time around without their star point guard against a healthy Clippers team.

In their last four games without Curry, the Warriors have gone 2-2. Overall, the Warriors are 9-10 without their superstar and 20-18 with him this season.

Steph Curry is averaging 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 4.9 3-pointers per game through 38 games on a 49.5/42.7/92.2 shooting split.

"After the All-Star break, I'm going to hopefully get back on the court" - Steph Curry on his return to action

When recently asked about his left leg injury, Steph Curry explained that the timetable for his return will depend on how his ligaments heal.

"It's all dictated around how this heals," Curry said.

He added:

"This is different than the shoulder (injury), where it was pretty predictable where I would be able to get to a point where I could play and not re-injure it or put myself in jeopardy out there on the floor. This one's different because ligaments can heal on all different types of timelines. So there's like a window for each checkpoint. After the All-Star break, I'm going to hopefully get back on the court. Then depending on how things go from there, you can start to key in on a specific date to get back."

When asked if he was going to miss a chunk of games following the All-Star break, Curry was reticent. However, he acknowledged that he will not play the Warriors’ first game after the break against the LA Lakers on Feb. 23.

"I don't know how you define chunk," Curry said. "But yeah, I won't be playing against the Lakers the first game back."

After their clash with LA, the Warriors will play the next day on Feb. 24 against Houston. That will be followed by matchups against Minnesota and Portland on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28. It remains to be seen if Steph Curry will be available for any of the Warriors’ remaining games this month.
