Is Steph Curry playing tonight against the LA Lakers? | February 23rd, 2023 | 2022-23 NBA Season

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors will resume their season on Thursday against LeBron James and the LA Lakers. Curry has not played a game since February 4 when he suffered a left leg injury against the Dallas Mavericks.

The reigning NBA Finals MVP was diagnosed with partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane. He also suffered a left leg contusion and was scheduled to be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.

Curry is expected to miss the Warriors' first game back against the Lakers, but there's optimism about his return date. It will be an important matchup for both teams considering their positions in the Western Conference standings.

"This one's different because ligaments can heal all different types of timelines," Curry told reporters before the All-Star break. "So there's like a window for each checkpoint. After the All-Star break, I'm going to hopefully get back on the court and then depending on how things go from there, you can start to key in on a specific day to get back."

The Golden State Warriors announced on Tuesday that Steph Curry is making good progress in his recovery. Curry has already started individual on-court workouts, including non-contact shooting drills during the team's recent practice at UCLA.

The four-time champ will miss at least the next four games against the LA Lakers, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers. He is set to be re-evaluated again in one week and, if cleared, could return against the LA Clippers on March 2.

The Golden State Warriors are currently ninth in the Western Conference standings. They have a record of 29-29 with 24 games left in the regular season. They will have to play incredible basketball if they are to finish above the play-in tournament spots.

With Steph Curry out for at least the next four games following the All-Star break, the Warriors will have to weather the storm. The matchup against the LA Lakers is important, considering that they are one of the teams looking to make it to the playoffs in the West.

While the matchup against the Houston Rockets is very winnable, the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves is crucial. The Timberwolves are above the Warriors in the standings. The same can be said for the Portland Trail Blazers since they are also looking to make the postseason.
