Victor Wembanyama will not be playing tonight for the San Antonio Spurs against the Sacramento Kings in the California Classic Summer League. Wembanyama is not on the Spurs' Summer League roster, so he won't be making an appearance in any of the team's games in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

The reigning NBA Rookie of the Year was not named to the Spurs' Summer League roster because of his commitments to the France National Basketball Team. France is busy preparing for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and most recently beat Germany 90-66 in an exhibition game.

Wembanyama finished with a game-high 25 points plus five rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes of action. He went 10-for-16 from the field, including 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. It was an impressive win by France, but the World Champions were missing Daniel Theis, Moritz Wagner and Franz Wagner.

Victor Wembanyama will have several new teammates next season as he enters his second year in the NBA. Wembanyama is expected to take the next leap and dominate the league while also improving his team's record.

In addition to rookies Stephon Castle and Harrison Ingram, the Spurs signed Chris Paul to a one-year contract. Paul is a significant upgrade at point guard, which will only help Wembanyanama's development. He's one of the best point guards in NBA history, so it's natural he'll find the tallest player on the court every time.

The Spurs also acquired Harrison Barnes from the Sacramento Kings in a three-team trade that also involved the Chicago Bulls. Barnes will provide additional experience and shooting at the four. He'll be a better scoring option over Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan.

Despite the performance of Wemby, the Spurs are still rebuilding although it's surely fast-tracked now with the 20-year-old center's rapid ascent. They are likely to improve and increase their win total next season, and even possibly challenge for an NBA Play-In Tournament spot.
