The Memphis Grizzlies will cross swords against their Western Conference rivals Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, with rookie Zach Edey expected to be in action. The 7-foot-4 center is not listed on the Grizzlies’ injury report and barring any last-minute setbacks, he will suit up to take on Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.

Edey suffered a painful injury during the Grizzlies’ 140-112 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Julian Champagnie accidentally struck Edey’s face with his elbow, leaving the rookie with a bloodied nose.

Edey was forced to exit the game early and head to the locker room. Before his premature departure, the former Purdue standout tallied four points, four rebounds and one assist in seven minutes.

Injuries have been a recurring concern for Zach Edey this season, with the young center missing 14 of the team’s 42 games. Despite his limited availability, he has appeared in 28 games, averaging 9.5 points on an impressive 58.4% shooting from the field, including 39.3% from beyond the arc, along with 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 block per game.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are also closely monitoring the status of Ja Morant, who is listed as "questionable" due to a foot injury. The superstar point guard missed the previous game against the Spurs with the same issue.

The Grizzlies currently sit third in the Western Conference standings with a 27-15 record, looking to maintain their strong position as they head into this critical matchup.
