"It wasn't Russ' fault tonight" - Shockwaves sent through LA Clippers fanbase after 5th straight loss in Russell Westbrook era

Paul George and Russell Westbrook of the LA Clippers

The LA Clippers have now lost five straight games following their tough defeat against the Sacramento Kings on Friday (Mar. 3) night. While fans like to blame Russell Westbrook, they can't do that this time, as he had his best game as a member of the Clippers.

Westbrook finished with 27 points, two rebounds and 10 assists in the Clippers' 128-127 loss to the Kings. Paul George had a chance to win at the buzzer but came up short. It was a tough loss for the Clippers, as they had restricted the Kings to just one field goal in the final three minutes.

Domantas Sabonis hit a free throw to give the Kings the lead with seven seconds left. The foul that sent Sabonis to the line appeared to be a soft one, but Westbrook's late turnover was also costly. George also thought he was fouled at the end of the game.

Fans on Twitter were quick to make fun of the LA Clippers. They're now 0-5 after acquiring Russell Westbrook via the buyout market. However, some defended Westbrook, while others took shots at Paul George instead.

One tweeted:

"It wasn't Russ' fault tonight."

Here are some of the best comments and reactions on Twitter:

George believed that he was fouled on his game-winning attempt, but the refs and people on Twitter thought otherwise.

Some LA Lakers fans laughed at their rivals, but others argued that they don't have the right to do it against the LA Clippers. The Lakers also lost their game on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-102.

It has been a tough few weeks for the LA Clippers. They're winless after the All-Star break and on a five-game losing streak. They lost two heartbreaking games to the Sacramento Kings, including a high-scoring overtime game and a one-point loss on Friday.

The Clippers also lost to the Denver Nuggets in overtime, while the Minnesota Timberwolves outplayed them on Tuesday (Feb. 28). They had a nice lead against the Golden State Warriors a day later but got blown out.

The recent loss to the Kings has put the Clippers as the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 33-33 record. They're three games behind the Phoenix Suns (35-29) and just 1.5 games ahead of 11th-placed LA Lakers (30-33).
