Detroit Lions clinch a historic win against the Vikings
The Detroit Lions' victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday meant the team made history as they clinched the number one seed in the NFC Playoffs. This feat was never before achieved by the Michigan side in their 95 years of existence, taking home the NFC North title for the second straight year.
The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9, breaking the Vikings' nine-game winning streak. As a result, Minnesota enters the postseason as a wild-card team. Despite the final score, the game was quite eventful, with the Lions leading 10-9 and only 2:30 left in the third quarter.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs took all the limelight in the second half, as he caught a touchdown pass to end the third quarter and followed that up with a 13-yard rushing touchdown, which took the score to 24-9 in the fourth.
Going into their 20th playoff appearance, the Detroit Lions will be hoping to make more history in the coming months. The Michigan franchise will travel to California to face the fourth-seeded Los Angeles Rams on January 13.
