France has continued its excellent play in the Olympics, winning two straight games thanks to Victor Wembanyama. The San Antonio Spurs center led the way in Tuesday's 94-90 overtime win over Japan, finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Wemby's recent performances have been vital for the national team as it seeks to win the gold medal.

Wemby is one of the young rising stars in the basketball scene. In the NBA, he wrapped his rookie season with the Rookie of the Year award, showing a glimpse of what he can do in the big leagues.

The game was intense as the Japanese gave the hometown team a tough time down the stretch. But they didn't have any answer for Wemby, who can do anything on the court. His final shot of the game was a 3-pointer from the top of the key.

After his shot went in, the French star screamed, "Let's f***ing go!" A fan approached him after the game and asked if what he screamed had something to do with him spending a lot of time in the U.S.

"That’s a basketball player thing," he said. "I think in Mongolia, Australia or the North Pole, they say it."

Victor Wembanyama on his approach during OT win

Japan has now fallen 0-2 in the tournament and has a crucial game against Brazil on Friday. But for France, it's won back-to-back games, all because of Victor Wembanyama. He took over during overtime and wanted to make a statement with the win against the Rui Hachimura-led squad.

"The realization, the dynamic of the game," Wemby said. "They were playing like underdogs, and we were waiting for them to punch a little bit too much. I wanted to make a point and punch first in overtime. And it worked."

Wemby became the first player under 22 years old to post 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the Olympics. The tournament isn't over, however, and France's journey to the top will get harder the more wins they rack up.
