The blockbuster trade that sent Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers flooded the headlines and shook the NBA world on Saturday. Many are frustrated with the deal, including Sasa Doncic, Luka's father.

Sasa's comments emerged on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. The Lakers Empire's account (@LakersEmpire) posted them, and the Slovenian coach expressed his disappointment and frustration. He called the Mavericks' move as 'hypocrisy.'

"With this trade, their (Dallas Mavericks) hypocrisy hurts me personally," Sasa said. "I think Luka absolutely did not deserve this. I know he sacrificed a lot."

Moreover, Sasa noted that Luka has also been involved in the Dallas community off the court.

"I know Luka really respected Dallas," Sasa added. "He respected the whole city, he helped children and it was not a problem for him to go to hospitals and charity events."

According to Sasa, Luka played his heart out and dragged his team despite being the constant attention of opponents' defensive schemes.

"He played 100 games last season for like 40 minutes per game, constantly being doubled," Sasa uttered. "I feel it's really unfair from certain people from Dallas."

Sasa appeared on Arena, a Slovenian sports network channel. Several accounts on X, including the Lakers Empire, shared the translation of the interview.

NBA insider Shams Charania first reported the deal that shipped Lakers big man Anthony Davis, guard Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick to Dallas in exchange for Luka, forward/center Maxi Kleber, and forward/center Markieff Morris. The trade included the Utah Jazz as a third team.

Luka Doncic unfollows the Mavericks' account

A few hours after Luka Doncic's high-profile deal broke X (formerly Twitter), fans noticed that the five-time NBA All-Star had already unfollowed the Dallas Mavericks' Instagram account.

A Mavericks fan account posted a screenshot of Doncic's following list on Instagram. The Mavericks account was not seen in the list.

Doncic's move to unfollow Dallas' Instagram might be viewed as sending a message regarding his thoughts about the blockbuster trade.

Doncic was selected as the No. 3 pick in the 2018 NBA draft and was traded to the Mavericks. He won Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season and was selected to five consecutive All-Star nods and five straight All-NBA First Team selections.

Looking ahead, the LA Lakers have a superstar to pair with the aging LeBron James. With James' retirement looming, Luka Doncic could be LA's franchise player moving forward.
