Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon gave her take on the situation between the Miami Heat and their star, Jimmy Butler. The All-Star forward wants to leave the franchise and has requested a trade.

Butler wants to leave the Heat organization, as he stated after their 128-115 loss against the Indiana Pacers on Jan. 2. In his postgame interview, the six-time All-Star said that he has no more joy in playing for Miami and would prefer to play anywhere else than the current franchise.

During his appearance on "NBA Today" on Tuesday, Hammon discussed the Butler-Heat scenario.

"When the player wants out, and the player's giving you a list of teams, it's just time to say goodbye," Hammon said. "I wish Jimmy would just say, 'Hey, I want out.' That's okay, 'Thank you.' 'Thank you.'

Before taking the Aces' head coaching job, Hammon was part of the San Antonio Spurs coaching staff. While she was a member of the team, she saw Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs split up.

"As things get dragged out, it tends to get a little bit ugly," she continued. "There was a point where I was discussing with some other coaches that I didn't think Kawhi wanted to be in San Antonio anymore. I said, 'He's the girl in the car that is just playing nice until she can get out of that car.' She's done with the date.
"Jimmy and Kawhi are very different personalities, both tremendous players. But it doesn't have to be ugly... right now, it's starting to get ugly."

Becky Hammon compares Suns star to Manu Ginobili

The Phoenix Suns snapped their four-game losing streak with a 109-99 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. One fixture the Suns made that helped them win was Bradley Beal's role. Against the Sixers, Beal wasn't part of the starting lineup but led the second unit, instead.

He ended off the bench with 66.7% shooting, 25 points and five assists. With his performance, Becky Hammon recalled the humility of former Spurs star Manu Ginobili for accepting a bench role that helped the team win.

"I'm gonna go to my favorite bench player in Manu Ginobili... and kudos to him [Beal] for moving to the bench and doing whatever it takes for his team to win and being a pro."

In his second season with the Suns, Beal is averaging 18.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 24 games.
