Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey suffered an apparent left leg injury during Wednesday's 105-96 home win over the Orlando Magic. After the contest, Pistons and Magic coaches J.B. Bickerstaff and Jamahl Mosley expressed their sympathies for the third-year player.

Ivey's injury occurred early in the fourth quarter when Orlando guard Cole Anthony collided with him while diving for a loose ball. Ivey tumbled to the floor and clutched his left leg, screaming in pain.

Once Detroit's medical staff stabilized his leg, he was wheeled off the court on a stretcher as Pistons fans chanted his name.

Jaden Ivey finished with a team-best 22 points, one rebound, four assists, one steal and five 3-pointers, shooting 8-for-11 (72.7%) across 27 minutes. He checked out with Detroit leading 84-79 with 10:07 remaining. In his absence, the Pistons outscored the Magic 21-17 the rest of the way, holding on for a nine-point home victory.

Following the game, Bickerstaff reflected on how difficult it was to see one of his top young players go down with a devastating injury.

"It's tough. No better teammate (or) person than JI," Bickerstaff said. "No one cares more about this thing than him. It's tough to see."

Meanwhile, Mosley offered his "thoughts and prayers" to Ivey regarding his recovery.

"You never want to see that happen to anyone," Mosley said. "... Our thoughts and our prayers are with him, praying it's not as bad as it looked. I pray just for a speedy recovery, whatever the case may be."

J.B. Bickerstaff on Pistons banding together after Jaden Ivey's demoralizing injury

During his postgame interview, J.B. Bickerstaff also touched on his team's response following Jaden Ivey's injury. While many young teams likely would have collapsed under similar circumstances, according to Bickerstaff, the Pistons showed resilience for Ivey.

"They care about each other, and they care about JI, and what this means to him and the sacrifices he's made within his game, within himself to help this team," Bickerstaff said. "They banded together because they know that's what he would've wanted them to do."

Detroit (15-18) continues its four-game homestand on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets (7-25). The team should receive an update on the severity of Ivey's injury by then. If he is sidelined for an extended period, sixth man Malik Beasley will likely receive increased playing time.

Through 30 outings, Ivey is averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 2.1 3-pointers per game, shooting 46.0% and 40.9% from outside. He ranks second on the Pistons in scoring.
