Ja Morant is one of the faces of the league right now. He is tipped to be the future of the Memphis Grizzlies as someone to guide the team back to glory after the 'Grit-and-Grind' era.

That was also the case with another high-flying top-three draft pick years ago. Derrick Rose carried the heavy burden of putting an entire team and franchise on his shoulders like him.

Fortunately for Morant, Rose took him under his wing when he arrived in Memphis. Their bond continued into the next generation as their children were captured playing together.

Ja Morant's ex - KK Nixon - reposted an adorable clip by D-Rose's wife, Alaina, on Instagram stories that featured Morant's daughter, Kaari, holding a "basketball camp" with Derrick Rose's youngest son, London.

Derrick Rose's bond with Ja Morant transcends the court

Knowing how valuable Ja Morant is, the Grizzlies made sure to get him the perfect mentor. They brought D-Rose back to Memphis, where he starred in college, to help develop a player with a similar style.

In a September interview, former Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah, who starred with Rose in the Windy City, talked about the resemblances between both of their games:

“I see it. I see a lot of similarities," Noah said. "They’re definitely hood favorites. It’s cool. I think there’s similarities in their explosiveness. Physically, I think D-Rose is a little bit more explosive. There’s definitely differences in their game," said Noah.

Derrick Rose's tenure in Memphis was shortlived, but it made a positive impact on Morant, who tipped his hat to the former No. 1 pick after his retirement:

"Hell of a career, man. Derrick is a special guy, special talent. Everybody knows what he means to the game of basketball, know what he means to athletic guards," Morant claimed. "He pretty much paved the way for guys like me, so honestly, big congrats on everything."

Given all the injuries he suffered, Ja Morant gushed about the fact that, all in all, he retired when he wanted to:

"I feel like the best thing about it is that he was able to walk out on his own terms. That's all you can ask for, pretty much as a player. Hats off to him," the Grizzlies guard concluded.

D-Rose will always be one of the biggest "what ifs" in NBA history, but at least he could pass the torch and share his knowledge with a younger version of himself. Hopefully, Morant will be able to one-up him once it's all over.
