New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is set to return on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first time since missing a game on Nov. 8. All-Star guard Ja Morant, and fellow South Carolina native, is among the players excited to see the forward back on the floor and shared his reaction on social media.

In the 2024-25 NBA season, Williamson has only appeared in six games, averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. The Pelicans forward has missed 27 games due to a left hamstring strain.

Morant expressed his happiness to see Williamson back.

"Zion back tonight 🔥🙏🏾💪🏾," Morant posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The two stars were both drafted in the same year, 2019. The Pelicans selected Williamson first, and the Memphis Grizzlies selected Morant with their second pick.

The New Orleans forward looks to help the franchise improve its 7-29 record. Since missing games due to injury, the Pelicans have struggled to remain competitive in the Western Conference.

All-Star Brandon Ingram has also missed a lot of games in addition to Williamson. Ingram last played on Dec. 7 in a 119-109 loss against the OKC Thunder. The forward suffered a left ankle sprain and finished with five points and three assists in 18 minutes.

Trey Murphy III also missed the first 10 games of the season, which didn't help the team. Fortunately for the Pelicans, he's been available over the past few games. However, he's listed as out against the Wolves on Tuesday due to a left ankle sprain.

WNBA star wants Zion Williamson to take his return to action seriously

Zion Williamson's health and availability have often been put into question since his career started. He's dealt with various injuries since he got into the NBA, which have hindered him from achieving his full potential.

As he returns Tuesday night, WNBA star Chiney Ogwumike wants the two-time All-Star to take things seriously.

"This is the biggest inflection point in Zion's young career," Ogwumike said. "Based on his contract circumstances, based on the fact that he's only played six games so far this year. Coming back and being that guy that finishes the year strong is so important to solidify yourself as the cornerstone of the franchise. ... He has to take this very seriously."

The Pelicans are still hoping that Williamson can change things for their 2024-25 run. New Orleans is currently last in the Western Conference.
