Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies continued a four-game homestand with a matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. The surging hosts, on a three-game winning run, look to snap the Hornets' run of three straight victories.

Morant opened the hostilities with a 26-footer. He finished the first quarter with seven points and three assists, helping the Grizzlies to a 38-23 lead. The highlight of the period was Morant snatching a lob before leading a fastbreak that led to a Jaylen Wells triple.

"G12" added two points and three assists in yet another dominant Grizzlies quarter. Morant had help from Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard, who sizzled late to give their team a 78-48 halftime lead.

The Charlotte Hornets played better in the third quarter and slowed Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant had two points and four assists, helping his team keep a 106-84 advantage.

The Grizzlies superstar added five points and two assists in the fourth quarter. Charlotte won the period but did not have enough time to overhaul the Grizzlies' lead. Memphis defended its homecourt following a 132-120 win.

Memphis Grizzlies are 8-1 this season when Ja Morant has at least 10 assists

Ja Morant dished 13 assists in the Memphis Grizzlies' 132-120 win against the Charlotte Hornets. With the Charlotte defense focused on stopping him from scoring, "G12" made their opponents pay with his playmaking. The 13 dimes are the highest in January by the point guard and the second time he reached double-digit assists this month.

The first time Morant had at least 10 assists this month was on Jan. 15 against the San Antonio Spurs. He finished that game with 21 points, 12 assists and four rebounds to push the Grizzlies to a 129-115 victory. Memphis is 2-0 when he records at least 10 times.

The results in January continue the trend of how the Memphis Grizzlies have been doing this month. They are 8-1 when he has more than nine assists in a game. The only loss the Grizzlies suffered when Morant impacted the game with his dishes was on Oct. 30. Ja Morant had 14 points and 11 dimes, but the Grizzlies lost 119-106.
