Ja Morant looked his usual explosive self in the 18 minutes of action he saw on the floor during the Memphis Grizzles' 121-116 win versus the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center on Monday. The All-Star guard returned to the court after successfully undergoing a season-ending shoulder injury last season.
He propped up 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in the preseason game. Morant shot 4-of-9 from the field and made all five free throws when on the floor. The mercurial guard was 0-2 from the 3-point line as both his attempts clattered off, but the overall outing is good news for the Memphis side fielding what would be their ideal starting five in the regular season.
Ja Morant's return wasn't without headlines as an injury scare saw a few gloomy faces on the Grizzlies' bench. He appeared to roll his ankle during the second quarter and headed to the locker room. However, Morant returned to the game minutes later and showed no visible signs of discomfort.
