Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies (25-14) were at the Toyota Center on Monday night to face the Houston Rockets (25-12). It's a battle between two of the top three teams in the Western Conference. But how did Morant perform against the Rockets tonight?

The two-time NBA All-Star finished with 29 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals. He also had seven turnovers as the Grizzlies fell short tonight 120-118. He missed two crucial free throws late in the game that would have trimmed the Rockets' lead to just one.

Morant had a great fourth quarter, scoring 11 points and helping Memphis build a 10-point advantage with eight minutes left in the game. However, Jalen Green played out of his mind to bring back the Rockets and get the win. Green had 42 points and missed just five shots throughout the contest.

How did Ja Morant perform against the Houston Rockets?

Ja Morant was coming off a rough outing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring just 12 points. However, Morant came up clutch and made the final two baskets for the Grizzlies to lead them to a 127-125 win.

On Monday's game at the Toyota Center, the two-time NBA All-Star had 10 points in the first quarter. It helped his team gain a 30-23 advantage after the first 12 minutes. He added five points in the second period, but the Grizzlies still had a 60-57 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Morant only scored three points to put his tally at 18. The Grizzlies almost took control of the game before Houston made a huge run late to trim the lead to just five points. Memphis went up as much as 13 points in the period.

Ja Morant had a great fourth quarter, scoring 11 of his 29 total points. The Memphis Grizzlies even had a double-digit lead in the period, but the Houston Rockets completed the comeback with a huge run to get the 120-118 win.

Morant had the opportunity to get the Grizzlies by a point, but missed two free throws with five seconds left. Fred VanVleet secured the win with two clutch shots from the charity stripe, with Desmond Bane making a 3-point shot as time expired.

Memphis dropped to 25-15 and have now lost five of their last 10 games. They will continue their road trip on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs, facing them twice in three days.

The Grizzlies are back at the FedEx Forum on Jan. 20, welcoming the Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz for a four-game homestand. It will allow Memphis to regain some momentum and hold on to the third spot in the West standings.
