LeBron James holds many records in the NBA, but there is one that he values above the rest. He is the only player in the history of the league to play in a game alongside his son. Bronny James gave his father something else to celebrate on Jan. 25, putting up a career night in the G-League, scoring 31 points for the South Bay Lakers.
Bronny James joined his father on the Los Angeles Lakers after being picked in the second round of the 2024-25 draft. He has spent time with the Lakers' NBA and G-League teams. His performance last night is the highlight of his young career so far, and LeBron James was quick to congratulate him on it.
James posted highlights from Bronny's game on his Instagram page, spurring positive comments from big names, including former teammate Kevin Love and actor Jamie Foxx.

"Interview is everything," said Love of Bronny James. "Humble. Self aware. Comfortable in his own skin. Workers attitude. Growth mindset. Love this."
"💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾" commented Foxx.
Bronny played his best in the game, but the most encouraging part of the night might have come during his postgame interview. When asked about what the game meant to him, James had a reflective answer, saying:
"I'm just trying to get my confidence back, that's all," Bronny said. "I'm just trying to go out, play my game, learn from every game."
Could Bronny rejoin LeBron James and the Lakers later this season?
Bronny James has split time between playing in the NBA and the G League for the Lakers so far this season. He has played nine games for the South Bay team and 12 for the NBA squad. Both LeBron James and Lakers coach J.J. Redick have emphasized the importance of Bronny prioritizing his development early in his career when explaining why Bronny doesn't spend more time in the NBA.
The time in the G League offers Bronny James the opportunity to work on his offensive game more, and he has taken advantage, averaging 13.4 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while with the South Bay Lakers. If things go well and he continues to improve, Bronny might join the Lakers as a full-time member next season.
