The new NBA season is here and Jason Whitlock has already fired subtle shots at D'Angelo Russell after the Lakers' guard rocked a new hairstyle in the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Whitlock shared his opinion on Russell's hair in a post on X, asking his 798.4K followers if D'lo was wearing a blonde wig.

"I can't take it. D'Angelo Russell has a blonde wig on? Who is the woman calling the game with Van Gundy? Someone tweet at me if Bronny checks in. NBA is completely emasculated."

In his tweet, he also took shots at the league, calling it emasculated and asked his followers to fill him in when Bronny James makes his debut for the Lakers. Whitlock wasn't the only one commenting on Russell's new hairstyle, online NBA fans also made quite a buzz about it on social media.

As for Bronny James, he made his debut for the Lakers but had minimum impact compared to Dalton Knecht, the other rookie on the squad. Bronny collected just one rebound in his 3 minutes on the court, while Knecht played for 16 minutes, scoring 5 points and dishing out 2 assists.

D'Angelo Russell believes he can break his Lakers' three-point record again

D'Angelo Russell showed belief in himself and said that he can break his 3-point record again this season. The Lakers guard ended last season with 226 three-pointers and set a record for most threes scored in the franchise.

While talking to Spectrum SportsNet during the Lakers' media day, a reporter asked him if he could repeat the feat and the Lakers guard was positive in his response.

"I think so. Honestly, respectfully, I haven’t played in a system or structure of this caliber that he’s trying to implement. So for me, I’m super excited playing with the ball, without the ball, just playing high-level basketball."
"You could easily go to a team and get shipped off somewhere and you’re not playing as high-level of basketball as you were playing and you have to recalibrate that. For me to be in this position again, I’m grateful," Russell said.

D'Angelo Russell had a lackluster performance in the Lakers' season-opening game against the Timberwolves. However, thanks to Anthony Davis' dominance on the court, the Lakers secured a 110-103 victory over last season's Western Conference finalists.

In 34 minutes on the court, Russell scored just 9 points, collected one rebound and dished out 5 assists. The other members of the Lakers squad stepped up to fill that offensive void and secure a win at home.

Rui Hachimura stepped up his game and played the perfect second man on the scoring charts. He scored 18 points and collected 5 rebounds in 35 minutes on the court. However, It is still the first game of an 82-game season and D'lo has some time on his hands to get back his shot and prove his doubters wrong.
