Like many mothers out there in the world, Jaylen Brown's mom isn't a fan of hearing her son use curse words. Brown and the Celtics played host to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, where they were able to secure themselves a win with a big fourth quarter.

Throughout the game, Brown had several open looks that he simply couldn't convert on. With the shots continuing to miss, frustration began to mount. As a result, Brown said something under his breath that seemed to spark a change in his game. In the fourth quarter, he led a massive game-clinching run.

Once Brown caught fire, the Timberwolves were no match for the defending Eastern Conference champions. They outscored their opponents by ten points in the final quarter en route to a 12-point win. After the game, Jaylen Brown spoke to media members about his performance and the moment he turned everything around.

"My mom told me not to use curse words no more, so I can’t tell you what I said to myself. But it’s about time. I had a bunch of open looks throughout the game and for whatever reason, they wasn’t going in."

Unfortunately, for the All-Star, he then slipped up just moments later while discussing his performance, saying:

"The first three quarters was f**k it. Aw s**t. I tried. She gon’ be on me."

Jaylen Brown and the Celtics' hot start to the season

As Brown went on to say, the fourth quarter was a dominant one for him in every sense of the term. Of the 36 points he scored throughout the game, Brown scored 23 of them in the fourth quarter. Although he's had plenty of stretches this season where he has put on MVP-caliber performances, Friday night's snapped a three-game skid for the team.

The win over the Timberwolves kept the Celtics atop the Eastern Conference. Over the past week, the team has been fighting with the Milwaukee Bucks for first place in the conference, bouncing between first and second in recent days.

Jaylen Brown has been on an absolute tear this season, averaging a career-high through the first part of the season. Currently, he's averaging a career-high 26.5 points per game, with a career-high 48.8% field goal percentage to match. In addition, he's managed to significantly improve his rebounding numbers, averaging another career-high 7.5 rebounds per game.

With the team's sights set on making another run in the playoffs, they will meet the Bucks in a highly anticipated Christmas-Day showdown in Boston. The game will be broadcast on both ABC and ESPN, and with the betting lines all but even, it seems like we could be in for an all-time classic.
