Several days ago, Jayson Tatum appeared on an episode of "In Depth with Graham Bensinger." One of the topics they discussed was how Tatum's mom handled his money. He told the host that his mother didn't allow him to spend the money he made from the Boston Celtics.

It was tough for Tatum to spend his money because the only way he could splurge was through the endorsement money.

“We had a deal before I got drafted that I couldn’t spend the money I make from the Celtics," Tatum said. "We had to live off of endorsements.”

Jayson Tatum called his mother, Brandy Cole, "The Overseer," which meant she knew about every transaction his son made.

At one point, Tatum told the story about the time he went out with a bunch of his friends and Cole found out about his expenses. She called her son first thing in the morning just to clarify why her son spent $12,000.

Eventually, the Celtics star began to tell his mom that he wasn't using his salary from Boston whenever he made expensive transactions. It's cool to see that even though Jayson Tatum is grown up, he acts like a kid around his mom.

Jayson Tatum is looking great this season. It's still too early to say, but at the rate he's going, this might be his greatest season yet. According to Basketball Reference, Tatum's best season so far was from last year. He averaged 26.9 points, 4.4 assists, and eight rebounds. All three figures were his best career averages.

This season, he's on the road to topping his season averages from last year. As of the Boston Celtics' 112-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday, Tatum is averaging 30.8 points, 3.5 assists and 7.3 rebounds. He is also shooting an efficient 55.7% from the field. He and Jaylen Brown are the scoring leaders for the Celtics.

The Boston Celtics now have a 4-2 record and are third in the Eastern Conference standings. Without a doubt, Tatum will be selected for the 2023 All-Star game for the fourth time in a row if he keeps up his performances. According to Covers, Jayson Tatum is currently in the top five in the MVP race this season.

The best way for Tatum to win the MVP is for the Celtics to take the top spot in the East while he outperforms Luka Doncic. It seems very doable for the Celtics star. On Oct. 23 against the Orlando Magic, Tatum put up a season-high 40 points, accompanied by eight rebounds and two blocks.

In the Celtics' season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, Tatum ended the game with a double-double. He had 35 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 13 of 20 from the field. It'll be awesome to see him win the MVP award, but it'll be even more satisfying if his team can win the title and become the 2023 world champions.
