LA Lakers owner Jeanie Buss has found herself in the crosshairs of the NBA community this week. This week, during the July 14 episode of the Laker Film Room podcast, Pete Zayas revealed that he and the Lakers organization parted ways due to comments Zayas made regarding the Lakers' coaching saga with UConn's Dan Hurley.

From the sounds of things, the team wasn't happy with Zayas' coverage of the situation, and ultimately decided to part ways with him. The situation didn't go over well with fans, many of whom took their frustration out on second-generation owner Jeanie Buss.

While it's unclear whether or not Buss made the call to let Zayas go from his filmmaking role, the decision to part ways with the podcast host is one that hasn't been well received by LA fans.

Looking at the recent criticism Jeanie Buss and the LA Lakers have received in the wake of Jerry West's death

While Jeanie Buss and the Lakers' front office have been on the receiving end of criticism thanks to the Pete Zayas split, this isn't the first time this summer the Lakers owner has been in headlines as a result of criticism from fans.

Last month, when Hall of Famer and LA legend Jerry West died, the team wound up making a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, paying tribute to The Logo. Despite that, many fans felt that the team should have done more to honor West, who is widely regarded as one of the best players and executives in LA history.

This led to an old article, in which West was open about the rift between he and the Lakers, going viral. In it, the Hall of Famer revealed that after Jeanie Buss assumed control of the franchise, she made the decision to pull his season tickets, something promised to him by the late Dr. Jerry Buss.

To make matters worse, in the interview, West also alleged that he found out his season tickets were being revoked via a text message sent to his wife.

When looking back on his career, West cited his fractured relationship with the Lakers as one of the biggest disappointments, making it clear that the two sides never mended fences.

While the Jeanie Buss era in LA doesn't seem to be ending any time soon, it's clear that some fans aren't happy with the direction the team is going.
