After LeBron James' son Bryce announced his commitment to Arizona on Wednesday, many netizens expressed their support for the next chapter of his hoops career. One former NBA champion, however, decided to throw in an opinion that nobody else was talking about.
On Thursday's episode of the "Club 520 Podcast," Jeff Teague discussed James' commitment to Arizona with his co-hosts DJ Wells and Brandon Hendricks.
At one point, Teague implied that sons of NBA greats like LBJ and Michael Jordan were privileged to go to top-notch basketball programs simply because of who their fathers were. Then, he drew this comparison:

"Jeff (Jordan) was better than Bryce," Teague said (Timestamp 26:24).
A few seconds of silence followed the comment. Eventually, Hendricks said, "Hey, you know, it's quiet," which drew laughter from Wells.
Both co-hosts, of course, understood that Teague's comment could easily cook up a storm among netizens who continued to harp on the Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James debate.
Teague, however, would double down on his unsolicited take:
"I played with (Jeffrey) Jordan ... He had dumb bounce," Teague said (Timestamp: 26:32).
The 6-foot-1 Jeffrey Jordan played for the Illinois Fighting Illini from 2007 to 2010 before finishing his college hoops career with the UCF Knights. Amid the tough competition in NCAA Division I basketball, Jeffrey averaged 1.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in his four-year college stint.
Bronny James, ranked as the No. 20 recruit in his class by ESPN, averaged 4.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 2.1 apg in 25 games with the USC Trojans last season.
While it remains to be seen how Bryce James, who is ranked as the No. 257 recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports, will fare in the Big 12, the basketball community will follow his progression with great interest, in much the same way that his father (not to mention his brother Bronny) has been heavily scrutinized.
Teague: LeBron James' son Bryce is "a cool guy"
In another clip from the "Club 520 Podcast," Jeff Teague complimented Bryce James on his demeanor. Bringing up yet another comparison, Teague likened Bryce to the son of another iconic NBA name.
"I think Bryce is more of a — he's a cool guy," Teague said. "I think he's cool going to school. He might not play a lot. He might play a little bit. He reminds me of Shareef O'Neal. He can hoop, but he was like, 'Yeah, I'm cool.'"
Shaquille O'Neal's son averaged 2.6 ppg and 3.0 rpg in 37 games for the UCLA Bruins (one season) and LSU Tigers (two seasons) between 2019-22.
Bryce's composure is certainly reminiscent of his father, LeBron, who's known for consistently staying calm and collected on the court. This type of vibe will come in handy for Bryce as he gears up for the rigors of college hoops.
