Former Chicago Bulls guard Jimmer Fredette is looking to win his first Olympic gold medal. Fredette is part of Team USA's 3x3 basketball squad. Since the event was included in the Olympics, the USA has failed to win any medals.

The group stage has started and Team USA was the last team to play. Unfortunately, Serbia was too much for them as they suffered a 22-14 loss on Wednesday. Fredette wasn't aggressive ending the game with only four points and a rebound. It was Kareem Maddox who did most of the work, with six points and a rebound, shooting 4-5 from the one-point area.

For Serbia, it was Marko Brankovic with the most points (8) and collected three rebounds. Strahinja Stojacic also contributed with seven points and two rebounds.

Team USA's next game will be against Poland, on August 1. The team hopes to bounce back from their recent loss and get back to winning to hopefully return home with a gold medal.

After the game against Serbia, Fredette gets real about how the team lost. He also gave credit to their opponents, who are ranked No. 1 globally in 3x3 basketball.

"That’s a really good team, obviously, we know that," Fredette said. "They’re the best team in the world right now."

Jimmer Fredette excited to join Team USA

It means so much for athletes to represent their home country in international competitions, but the feeling of competing against the best from other countries isn't something that every athlete gets a chance to experience. That's why Jimmer Fredette is thankful he was selected to join the national team.

The former NBA player is enjoying his time in Paris before the team plays their scheduled group games.

"I just wanted to say thanks so much for the opportunity, obviously, this has been an incredible experience already," Fredette said.

After a stellar college career at BYU, many expected Fredette to become a phenom in the NBA. However, his talents didn't translate well in the pros and he bounced around for a few seasons. Since then, he's played in the G-League, and internationally, and is now a part of an Olympic team.

JimmerMania may not have populated the NBA, but it seems fans still enjoy seeing him play.
